Food in Seconds

I must admit, I am a sucker for hot, salty fries from McDonalds and yummy tasting hamburgers from Wendy's. Not sure if it was because of my lady-time approaching, but I felt like I NEEDED french fries in my belly and with the McDonalds Monopoly game in process, I wanted to eat hot, salty fries and win a million dollars!! Well, several McDonalds treats later, I have a small collection of Monopoly pieces (many duplicating pieces) and a more bloated feeling self.

I just googled "why is McDonalds addictive" and found some interesting things. I think the most importrant find here was a video called the Bionic Burger. I found it on this blog, with the title: "Why McDonald's Hamburgers won't decompose."

We all know fast food is the devil, but sometimes you just crave it and feel the need to have it. Well, at least until you look into it a little bit more...after reading some of the ingredients found in fast food items, I wanted to vomit all over the place.

For my overall health, life, and happiness, I need to stay away from these fast food places. Only if I'm on a road trip, have run out of snacks in the car, and someone else brings up the idea of fast food will I have it. Fast food restaurants are dirty little things. I work in a restaurant for goodness sakes. I should be the first to know that it takes time, energy and thought to create healthy and tasty meals. Food should not be served in just a matter of seconds. If seconds are all it takes to have a meal paid for, prepared and served, it is not real food. We all know this. It just takes a little googling and horror stories to let it sink in.

Typing this little post makes me want to eat a bag of carrots and a handful of fresh strawberries.

At Koko FitClub, one of the owners and I created the second video for our YouTube Channel for our studio. In this video, I demonstrate the tips on how to properly perform the Ab Crunch on the Smartrainer. I am excited to create more videos like this! You can see more about the location I work at on our Facebook page.

Resistance Training is SO good for Women

I found this helpful article on BodyBuilding.com: 10 Reasons women should do Resistance Training

I have always been a believer in using weights to reach your fitness and health goals. This article includes helpful scientific stats and other links that can help make you a believer, too.

For women especially, strength training is so beneficial for their overall health. It can help with reducing their risk of osteoporosis, depression and so much more. Women should not be afraid of strength training. We as women don't have the amount of hormones or testosterone to "bulk up." Instead, we build and sculpt muscle and add shape to our bodies. After all, isn't that what we are working for? Sexy, curvy and in SHAPE! Go girls!

This is something that I am personally working on. I'd love to increase my lean muscle mass. At Koko FitClub of Cary, where I work, I started using the stength training machine and I am so excited to see how my body will improve in this area. We have a eBMI, electronic body mass index, machine that keeps track of my improvements. Hopefully in a couple months I will post some before and after photos to see how my muscle mass has shaped up!

Koko Fitclub: Got my Koko Fitcoach Shirt!

I am in week number TWO of working at Koko Fitclub as a FitCoach and I am really enjoying it. This place rocks. It's only four weeks old at this location, but I really believe it is going to be a hit. It has the potential to truly change people's lives. There are already some "regulars" who come in almost everyday! It's great. We will be having our "Open House" pretty soon, so I'll keep you posted on when it is.

Recipe: Spicy Sausgage Quiche

The recipe I found on Yummly.com  turned quite tasty!

Here is the Recipe. I added orange peppers to mine because I didn't have chile peppers on hand. For the sausage, I used Neese's Spicy Sausage. I added some blackberries as a nice little side. This is just really yummy to me, not to mention gluten-free!

New Job at KoKo FitClub

The latest from Movin' for Losin' is that I am going to start a part-time job at Koko FitClub as a FitCoach. I start Monday morning at 8am and I am pretty excited about it. I discovered this place a few weeks ago and have learned a lot of interesting things about this franchise. It is a growing business and it makes total sense as to why people would enjoy it. It is individualized personal training all in one machine.

In a nut shell, Koko FitClub looks like a small fitness studio, with several large "machines" and a few treadmills and elliptical machines. You choose the fitness program that works best for you, create your "koko key" (looks like a jump drive), insert it into one of the machines and it tells you what exercise to do, what weight to do it and other helpful tips. It is literally your own personal trainer on a little screen attached to the machine. It is so unique and wonderful. Not only do you get personal training on the machines, but you can log onto their website and check all of the workouts you have ever done and keep track of your success. It also knows when you've been missing the studio...so it motivates you too. It evolves with you, as you evolve with your goals and fitness needs.

I am so excited to start this new job. There is room to grow with this business so I'm truly looking forward to seeing how it all works out! :)

I'll be at the Cary-Tryon location, but there are FitClubs all over the country and growing fast.

Here is a pretty cool video detailing how the Koko process works:
